What happens when your counting your change at a machine and the bins become full? Would the put all the coins that are not counted but in the machine, would they put them into the coin reject bin or what? If someone could tell me that would be great. I want to do a big penny drop off at a coin star.
Thanks Wheatcent

We actually had a big discussion on this topic a while back. I think it was NotABigDeal who has had first experience with a coinstar.
They are supposed to have one big holder that all the coins go in in which can hold thousands of dollars. And they service them a lot. I have done a $200 penny drop there a couple of times when it was free at my bank and didnt have any problems. They took notice of this real quickly and threw my butt out.
But I would search or wait for someone with better info. |

I don't return in a coinstar. I used to return to a lobby coin machine (possible coinstar machine I guess?) that held I believe 4 bags that were filled by weight and not by denomination. But it only did something like 300-500 coins per minute, and the bags would fill up very quickly. I think if the bags were completely empty they would actually hold $50 in pennies, or a real bag of pennies. Once my volume increased I moved onto just returning loose to banks with behind the counter counters as they are MUCH faster.
As far as your mentioned machine wheatcent, I would think it would either reject them or just shut off. If it is a machine that charges a fee I would pass on that return.

Live free or die. Plain and simple.
"If you love wealth more than liberty, the tranquility of servitude better than the animating contest of freedom, depart from us in peace. We ask not your council or your arms. Crouch down and lick the hand that feeds you. May your chains rest lightly upon you and may posterity forget that you were our countrymen." - Samuel Adams |

When the coinstar machine determines that it is full it is supposed to sort any remaining coins into the reject slot. The best thing to do is as soon as it says it can't take any more coins is to quit feeding them into the feed slot. |

I was doing a penny drop at my local coinstar and every thing went fine. I did not have to pay a "penny" :) for the service. I cashed in $203.90 in pennies and took 45 minutes or so. It is about the same speed of counting that the TCF Banks carry.
If you think I am crazy going to a coinstar to cash in, is because TCF Bank will no longer take my pennies. And someone on this forum told me how to get free coin counting.
