I think I have it all down now except where to dump the zincs.
The only free coin counter that I can find in this area is at the Credit Union that I cannot join at.
Should I call around and ask some banks if they accept pennies for deposit without requiring they be rolled?
I have been trying to think of some reason why I may have tons of pennies to deposit.... *maybe something along these lines* "My dad passed away and my mom never went through his storage bin until the other day. For some reason he stored many thousands of dollars worth of pennies and my mom is trying to figure out how we can get them deposited... can you help??"
Or maybe I should be just straight up and tell them I have alot of pennies to deposit every week and Im wondering if they have some way I could deposit them in $50 bags or whatever. Im going to do some calling around tomorrow. Hopefully Bank of America gives me something positive and I will be down there tomorrow to open an account.

| Tell the truth. Tell them you collect pennies and these are ones you have sorted through and want to return to circulation. You might consider offering to open an account if you can deposit these pennies at the bank. Right now might be a good time as banks seem to be having more withdrawls than depositors. Start slow and build up don't scare them with thousands at first. Good luck and welcome to the site. |

Welcome to the site, Aaron. You're among fellow copperheads.
Definitely call around to ask where you can dump loose coins. I have two primary dump banks--one is the largest bank in town and they process far more coinage on a daily basis than I could ever bring in, the second is the main branch of the bank I use for my regular checking account so that if I need to make an unscheduled deposit to cover unexpected expenses, the money goes right into my checking account. But to answer your question, call around first to save yourself the gas and the hassle.
Don't lie to the bank about why you're depositing all these pennies--just tell them that you sort through lots of pennies, keep the old ones (and in some cases re-sell them) and the new pennies that aren't, well, old, you're bringing back to the bank. Just make sure that you don't dump your pennies at the banks where you pick them up. It might be good to have totally different banks altogether (not just different branches of the same bank) for your penny pickups and your zinc dumps. |

Thanks
Im hoping BoA is wanting pennies and will take them in those bags. They have many branches in town and I would spread it around to different banks. |

| Try your main bank first. If you go in there on a regular basis and are friendly with the tellers, they will be friendly back. |

Bank of America is probably a good choice. I know of several hoarders that dump there and they do take them by the bag. It is a branch by branch thing though. My main branch gives me immediate cash for them, the branch near work credits my account immediately, but the branch accross town tells me they are subject to verification and my account doesn't get credited for a few days.
If you want to open a BofA account, let me know and I will send you a referral card. That way we each get $25 (a box of pennies!) when you open an account. |
If your percentages are low.. just sort more. If your percentages are high.. just sort more.
Now selling Copper pennies. 1.6x plus shipping. Limited amounts available. |

I was thinking of joining BofA but will I need a checking account to get the referral or can I get just a savings account? |
