Copper is down another $.10 as of this moment, and COMEX stocks have risen drastically over the last month. I don't see copper going back up until after the first of the year. Remember, the mint has to get it's copper cheap for the new commemorative, so the market will probably be manipulated down until they are released in Feb.

I am continuing to hoard, I only have a penny invested and they are still worth a penny. I still think someday they will be worth many times face value. I might slow up a little and not sort quite as many bags per week as I was doing but I still do it mainly for a hobby and enjoy finding the wheats in the bags I sort. I have found better date wheats in the bags I have sorted than I have in any "UNSEARCHED" bags I have gotten off of Ebay.

It's ALWAYS time to hoard!!!!
Otherwise, we wouldn't have so many colorful adjectives tossed at us when we bring bags of coins home to "play" with, or get the funny looks when we ask for loose coins, or CWR's at financial institutions.

Exactly. When tellers begin to react with "Oh, so you're one of those guys!" then you're too late.

Guys,

Falling copper prices have nothing to do with mint manipulation. This is depression. Copper will get cheaper and stay cheap for quite some time.

The depression is not here yet. It's coming.
Shortly the feds will fight the depression with ultra low interest rates, like 0.5%, resulting in inflation. This is an absolute requirement to stabilize housing prices.
You're not wrong in what you say, just early. The stock market is looking out 6-9 months, and it's reflecting what it sees coming, as you are.
There's still time for hoarding.

However, wouldn't inflationary times cause copper prices to soar? So my take was hoard while prices are tumbling, and then when the inflationary period hits, time to take advantage of higher copper prices. Am I wrong in my thinking here?

It would probably depend on how deep you think the recession will be.

Do you know how to tell the difference between a recession and a depression?
A recession is when your neighbor is out of work.
A depression is when you are.

That being said, I think it is always time to hoard.

If your percentages are low.. just sort more. If your percentages are high.. just sort more.

Now selling Copper pennies. 1.6x plus shipping. Limited amounts available.

Just remember, that when you hoard copper pennies you are not only hoarding copper incase we go into a high inflation, but you are also hoarding pennies (cash) in case we go into a deflation.

I wish I would have put MORE money into copper and had it sitting my basement rather than having put it in mutual funds. The stacks of copper I have in the basement are still worth more than I paid for them. I wish I could say the same for the mutual funds.

The way I look at 95/5 copper pennies is they are like holding a warrant that never expires with a 1 cent strike. Once the economy shows signs of growth again I think they will likely skyrocket in value since we still continue to create money at a record pace.

Copper has many uses.
One one is pounding into round disks with Lincoln's portrait.
If TSHTF many other uses will be sought and found for Copper!
If you can spare the funds, it's always time to hoard!!!!

It doesn't come lower than one hundred paper cents for 100 copper cents along with some dirty fingers.

Yes, copper is down along with most everything else, but part of the "problem" is that the Greenback is artificially high. This is due to a massive worldwide deleveraging process going on right now. As markets have fallen, investors are having to sell everything to meet margin calls. That is driving markets lower again, and the cycle repeats. Money is moving to US T-bills and similar securities because US Government Debt is considered the safest investment. If this massive debt crisis had been perpatrated by any other country, the US would be printing $100 billion bills right now for people to buy bread with instead of watching the dollar rise against every other currency and asset out there.

“The reasonable man adapts himself to the world; the unreasonable one persists in trying to adapt the world to himself. Therefore all progress depends on the unreasonable man.” – George Bernard Shaw.
