Poll Question:
As the Super Giant Colossal Mega Bailout Deal goes forward, do you forsee the price of gold rising or falling over the extreme short-term? (Short-term = this week and next week )
I think it will fall over the next week or two. Then once the bloom is off the rose and foreign markets realize that we didn't really fix anything, the price of gold will begin to rise again.
Discuss!

I think it will sink, because for now, people will be deluded into thinking the bailout solved all of our problems. As soon as it is evident it didn't, gold will go skyrocket.
But naturally, what do I know. Things haven't been seeming to make sense of late, so it's hard to make any predictions. |

I concur with your assessment totally. I think PM will be declining, although I don't think we will see the lows we've already seen again. I also expect some upside in the stock market, but I believe before we see the election, we'll see a real decline in the stock market, and another flight to the safety of metals. The VIX (ticker symbol for a measure of volatility in the markets) is maintaining a very high level which usually precedes declines.

Does peeking at the poll results before voting disqualify one from voting?
I haven't a clue which way it will go in the short term due to this ridiculous legislation, what I do believe (know?) is that when they hold a treasury auction and no one bids, we can all kiss our way of life goodbye... Or at least our currency, which is doomed anyway you slice it. |

I don't know. I'd like to think that we won't. I guess the question is how long it'll take the rest of the world to realize that nothing about our economy has changed or is likely to change.
I don't think it'll take more than a couple of weeks. I wouldn't be surprised to see $700 gold. We're already at about $870 right now. To go from $870 to $700 would only take 10 days with $17 daily losses. |

I think that it will stay about the same with a chance of going up... I don't know if people will see their problems being solved. If people think that the bailout solved some of our problems, then it will go down for now... but not for long. If it does go down, I can see a good increase in about one month... |

it really hard to make a reliable forecast over such a short period.
medium term, there will be pressure to cut rates. that is dollar negative and good for gold. gold will get a good leg up when it becomes clear a rate cut is coming.
shorter term, we could have a market crash. that will bring down everything, gold included, at least short term. |

But naturally, what do I know. Things haven't been seeming to make sense of late, so it's hard to make any predictions. i couldnt agree more.Im not sure there is any bit of truth in pm prices. The truth is there is a number comes up on a electronic board and everyone believes in it. How could we question it. I think its a scam. If it wasnt a scam a precious metal like silver wouldnt be the same cost as 3 gallons of gas.I look at kitco everyday and everyday i ask myself the same question. "How does the endless printing of money and the huge growing lack of confidence here and around the world not have more of an effect on prices of pms. Forget supply and demand the american people are starting to wake up slowly. In reality silver shouldnt be trading for less than 50 and gold shouldnt be traded for less than 1500. Just my opinion. If "they" can control everything, they probably have no trouble telling us what metal is worth through there little electronic boards.
i bet that sounded a bit angry |

What might happen is the legislature crank out a series of bailout bills, then successively killing them once the voters get loud enough. The congresscritters know that the Taxpayer Ass Rape Plan isn't going to look good at the polls in November, so I can see it taking weeks to get a plan through.
In other words, hang on, it's gonna be a helluva ride. |

Here's an interesting note. Bundesbank and the swiss central bank announced today (Mon) they will NOT be selling any more gold into the markets. |

The election isn't for another five weeks. Until then the stock market will go up. The gold and silver and even copper will drop. Inflation will slow, and interest rates will drop.
After the election watch for all hell to break loose. |
