Someone sent me a response to my CL ad on copper pennies for sale . What would be a fair trade for 1400.00 face in copper pennies for 90%silver coins? He offered me 90% coin at a rate of $7.25 in copper per $1.00 silver. He also lives about an hour from me and I am wondering if you guys think this is a good trade or what you would suggest for a trade. thanks
13.10*.90=11.79 silver in the coins 11.79/7.25=1.63 per Cu cent (rounded up)
1.63 per cent is a good price and silver is set to go up like a rocket they say.

There are several here who sell copper pennies. I think the going rate is about 1.5 to 1.7 times face for copper pennies. Accordingly, $7.25 face in copper pennies might be sold for $11 or so. $1.00 face of 90% silver is worth $10.13 today according to the melt values on coinflation.com. With silver going up, I might make this trade if I were you -- especially since physical silver is hard to come by these days. My usual dealer sold completely out of 90% this past weekend.

Yes that is the way I am leaning to with physical silver and I do belive the prices are going to go up. I also think that is about what everyone is getting per penny on here and with silver it is more of a liquid asset.
ok my math was wrong but the end was the same, I'd do it too

You can relatively easily find more pennies at face - much harder to find silver for face. If you don't take the deal someone here will.

I am going to do the trade tommarow. I am giving him 1400.00 face in copper pennies and he is giving me 200 face 90% silver. I negotiated him down to 7.10cu per 1.00 face ag. I like the deal. I hope he has some more later on and he wants to do another trade
I sure hope your car can withstand the weight. That's the better part of half a ton of copper. Any repair work needed for your car would kill this deal.
Good luck tomorrow!

I don't know what your car is, but this is like 5 large men riding in it. Don't put it all in the trunk!

I've pulled that much in stone with a lawn mower. I think about 98% of 4-wheeled vehicles on the road can handle 1000 pounds, so long as it's distributed evenly. I've seen Ford Metros packed with families that clearly weigh more than $1400 face in copper
I will evenely distrubute the weight over my car. My car might look a little funny driving to this guys house though. On the way back my car will sure get a sign of releif.
Be careful. I hope you are meeting in a public place. Or you are taking some protection....

His house huh. Just be aware. A lot of variables in an unknown house. A lot of hiding places. Maybe bring a friend to come with you and help unload and watch. Or someone to at least stay in the car. I'm just looking out.
Deal
p.s. By protection you are not talking about mace or something.

Deal thanks for looking out but no im not talking about mace. Talking about my Glock. I am still a little uneasy about goin to his house and I am not able to find anyone to come with me so I will just have to be extra carefull and if i see anything out of place I am outta there. I just think it is easier to go there as I will have to unload amost a 1,000 pounds of copper with him.

Just a thought, but you might ask for the silver before you start unloading all of that copper.

I just got back from the trade with coins and I am still alive. He was a young guy about 22-25 or so and he was very pleasent to talk to. I didnt even have to go into his house. I just dropped them off by his porch and did the trade from there. I did get alot of bu rolls of dimes mostly in the 60s and bu quarters the rest was just a mix. I will post all what I got on here one of these days soon. Thanks to all for the advice.
Glad everything went well. Better safe than sorry. I eagerly await the final tally.
