I sorted a box of dimes a while back and got skunked (and shortchanged), haven't done any of this since. I have heard of silver dimes found in change recently in ontario though around long-established farm communites. There are always coins mentioned in the estate sale notices around that area as well. Apparently Canadian halves are no good for searching because the base metal ones are a different size.
Found a few silver dimes - occasionally a teller will offer me excess dimes so I take them. Hardly worth the effort to sort. Wife scored a silver quarter while looking for varieties to build a set. Again, very rare to find silver. Canadian Ni Nickels and Cu Pennies are the game here. I can't even get halfs at all from banks. They just do not circulate and can't be ordered.

I do have a standing order with my credit union that any halfs they come by they will call me. They said when they get them it is a real pain to unload them.
