Hey everyone.

Seems to be there is a lot of interest in copper wire from computers. I figure that almost everything sells as number 2 insulated.

However sometimes when I turn in the power cables they get thrown in as number 3 insulated because they are "double insulated"? Does this sound right?

Other wires that I am not sure where they go. Any help would be much appreciated:

CAT5 cable
telephone wire

Thanks in advance!
Tom

Take this job and shove it. I don't want to work here no more...

Telephone wire I know is usually 4 wires, each insulated and then bundled/wrapped in another layer of insulation, so that sounds right. Cat5 I think is the same. Can't say for the others without taking my computer apart.

again it varies by yard, generally phone and cat5 wire would go as #3

knowing this, i intentionally take this kind of wires to the yard that grades it all as #2

I have never had power cords downgraded to #3 this is the most common wire returned by the average joe
