First off you guys will never believe this, but I will assure you, I am 100% telling the truth and this is not a lie!
I went to a bank and asked for some half dollars. She said I only have $2 worth. So she gets them out and theres no silver.
I am fine with that.
But she gives me 3 $1 bills that looked different. They had blue stamps. So they are silver certificates. Cool. I ask if she has anymore. She gets out a wad of them. 16 total. Cool again. They are all 1935 series, no stars and were is fairy worth shape.
She said I got these too. I get 3 more $5 Silver certs from 1934 and a 1928 Red seal $5 bill. Better shape and no stars.
I checked and these notes dont have much value, but to get Depression era, WWII notes at a bank nowadays is AMAZING! The teller thought nothing of them too.
What a day!

That is a cool find.
I agree with centless, in the future we could be looking back at the present as the good old days for our hobby. Definately time to have the effort in overdrive.

| Very nice finds. I dont collect currency but always wondered if it would be worthwhile to order stacks of bills to search for silver certficates, red seals and other such FRN's the way we do coin roll searching. |
My hobby: collecting real money 1 copper cent or nickel at a time.

I love your suggestion... I can see it now... you go buy $50,000 in $100 bills, sort them, sell the old one on ebay, redeposit $49,800 into another account at another bank. Repeat 10 times this week and move all the cash back to source via checks.
Next week, IRS, DEA, the local sheriffs department, Secret Service, and 3 local banks are all looking for you. You are accused of massive tax evasion, suspected of drug dealing, blamed for last weeks bank robbery, investigated for money laundering, and offered a free toaster, the opprotunity to open a Super Duper Best Customer Premier Account and special high interest rate bankers acceptances. "Oh no officer, this is just a hobby! I'm not pulling money from my accounts, spending like crazy and depositing ill gotten cash proceeds of crime." |

Ha ha I see your point. I was thinking more along the lines of $500 here, $1000 there to keep it on the downlow. |

They say... "Go Big or Go Home"... or maybe Go Jail. I like your idea, I just decided to push it a little far ther into the volumes of units we do in pennies or 1/2s for some fun :) |
