I was dumping a batch of pennies yesterday at my local credit union. As I always do I checked the coin return, which is nothing but a compartment door that you reach inside and sweep your coins out. I put my hand in the compartment and was really upset me to the point of seeing yellowed as apparently someone before me had either put some really nasty coins or dumped some soda or other sticky crap where the reject coins come out. Since I already got this sticky mess on my hands, I just dumped what was in there in my bucket, it was about 17 pennies. I don't believe they came from my batch at all. They were too sticky to run thru the machine.
I put these sticky coins in a bottle with liquid soap and shook them vigoursly for a while and let them sit overnight. This morning, I dumped the bottle and to my surprise was a nice steel 1943 penny in excellent shape.

Sad face at first, then happy. Didn't want to give away the happy ending. |

| I am giving a happy ending, but not at the beginning of the story. Keep sorting and you will find your 1943 steel penny. I found 3 Indians this year before I found my first 1943 Silver. Now I'm up to 4 - 1943 steelies |

| I found my 4th silver dime today in the reject bin. It seems that the coin counting machine at my bank only rejects silver, bent, damaged, ect. coins. I have seen, many times, the machine spit the 90% silver coins back out at people. and nice find as well tourney!!! |

| I'd rather have silver dimes. I don't know if mine does that but I have snatched silver Canadian quarters in mine. |
