I was just wondering if it is often necessary to call a bank ahead of time in order to get big orders of pennies or nickels?

Yes.

What do you consider a "big order?"

If your percentages are low.. just sort more. If your percentages are high.. just sort more.

I call my pick banks ahead of time even if I'm only picking up 2 boxes. It gives them time to gather the CWR's to make my order or get the boxes out of the vault. I give them a 30 minute head start before I'll be there just to be polite.

When my wife got after me it sounded like "Blah,Blah,Blah", but now it sounds like "Clink,Clink,Clink". Its amazing what that Ryedale can do for a hounded husband.

Yes - call ahead - my banks order on Tueday and Thursday. They only ask that I give them a heads up and pick them up when I say I will.

Yes if you are going to get more than a box or two on a regular basis, they like it if you call them ahead of time. If you get that Ryedale you might want to have a standing order at the bank where they will just order you the same amount each week. I do that with a couple of different banks and I pick up my orders every Friday. And I go to my dump banks every Friday also so I can take care of everything in one trip.

COPPER - the "poormans" precious metal!!!

SELLING - $100.00 face copper shipped to you for $189.00 machine rolled or bagged - PM me if your interested.

You MIGHT be able to specify what kind of rolls you get IF you get chummy with the tellers. I hear Chocolate (coins?) works well to build relationships. Generally though they are doing you a favor by selling lots of pennies and baggers can't be choosers. Some here weigh the rolls before cracking them open and don't crack the light ones. I get nearly 50% Cu so I don't pre-weigh my rolls - there is ALWAYS copper to sort out for me.

For that matter, what's the biggest single order that anyone here has ever picked up?

In one day or from one bank? We know Hoard probably has the record although there are some other heavy "buyers" on here also.

Nah, there are lots of folks that pick up more than me.. I go for repeatability. Most I have ever picked up from 1 bank on 1 day was 48 boxes. Also picked up 24 boxes from one of my other banks on the same day.
