I went into one branch today that I'd only visited once before and told them that I collect old pennies and asked if they had any boxes or bags. They said yes, but there's another guy who comes in THREE OR FOUR TIMES A DAY who says he collects wheat pennies and buys pennies from the coin machine that they have. Hey, he can have the wheats, I just want the rest of the coppers. I'll let you guys know how my percentages are at that branch. This should be interesting. At least they gave me two bags of pennies so I don't have to break open any Brinks boxes!

Well, I just sorted the first $50 bag and it was a 36.4 percent copper, so if that percentage keeps up, I probably won't care if there aren't any wheats.

3 or 4 times daily. I can see him wearing out his welcome real quick doing that. Especially at a busy branch.

Does that branch get that much coin? One visit to my local credit union and they are out of coin for the day.

Really, that bank has a awful lot of coin on hand it would seem.

Deal

Live free or die.
Plain and simple.

"If you love wealth more than liberty, the tranquility of servitude better than the animating contest of freedom, depart from us in peace. We ask not your council or your arms. Crouch down and lick the hand that feeds you. May your chains rest lightly upon you and may posterity forget that you were our countrymen."

maybe he orders a say $1000 in pennies/wk and he only picks up 50-100 each time he goes to the bank.

That's weird!
Before long, they'll probably call the cops on that penny stalker.
Who knows, they may be referring to their manager who comes out of his office and checks.
Unless they call or e-mail me, I try to keep it down to once or twice a week.

More then once a week at the banks I deal with and its not worth visiting. I cleaned out one credit union - then the next week they had 2 rolls of pennies on hand total!

PM sent, but it was one of the branches out of town where my brother lives.

Incidentally, the $100 I picked up from that branch yielded just under 35 percent copper, so I'm a happy camper.
