Yesterday to my surprise I found an Indian Head Penny! This is the second time I have found one while searching. If someone had told me six months ago there were still in circulation I would have told them they were crazy. Unbelievable!

Congratulations!
Six months ago I thought all copper pennies were out of circulation, thought it was a major event to find a wheatie, and never would have believed you could find an indian head in circulation...just goes to show--you are always learning something new...

texcattlerancher was the old name. +1 on mistero's comment that no IHPs are left in circulation. At least Mistero and Deal are still loyal to the Rational Thinkers.

(However, congratulations on your find. It must be tremendously exciting, but I would not know that from personal experience. I have some unsorted penny boxes that I did not get to today out in my work/tool shed. I may get back out there and sort them now just so that IHP curiosity doesn't bother me all night long.)

Rich is not owing any money to anybody, and not spending what you haven't got." Robert Ruark

Ok I will concead that there was a IHP in circulation... but now that you found it... the party's over. All the naked dancing in feather costumes will not help anymore.

The way I see it, finding an Indian Head Penny is sorta like playing a slot machine and hitting the jackpot :-) It is the law of averages and being and the right place at the right time. :-)

Been to the coin show the past two days, saw beautiful Circulated Indian heads, for like a dime. I know it's finding them in circulation that's great, it was when I found my first one. But I'd expect they'd be more.

for a dime! I'd have bought a ton of them. I've payed from a buck to $5 for circulated IH's.

How the heck did I miss those? I was at the same coin show yesterday.. I saw no bargain Indian heads. You would think if I could find them in circualtion I should be capable of finding them at a coin show.

What if he only had like 100-200 of them? I'll trade you that many for your bag of ASE's .

Sure.. I really like the shiny ones. Proof Indian pennies look sooooo nice. I only have a couple of them. I never did say how big that bag was. I also had gold coins in that bag. You never know when you might need to come up with a good stack of cash in order to buy a deal, and gold and silver are easily converted at a coin show if you don't have enough cash on you. Of course the # of ASE's I would have swapped would have depended on the size of the Indian hoard.
