I would imagine the US Mint or other big commercial operations are all over these guys to help them suck the copper or the remaining silver or silver clad out of circulation!

Also, check out this study done for an Oregon Armor Car Company wanting to get in on the sorting action! He is willing to spend $25,000. Very Interesting!

Wow, I want one!

That armored car company was seriously looking at the Rydale. It got mention in the last paragraph on page 4.

It's starting to look like coin sorting for base metals is going mainstream, with governments even getting in on the action.

Yes it does...

Also, Andy, I hope you are looking up the number for the Oregon Armor Car Company! :-)

Owner is a member here already. And he evidently owns a Ryedale if you read the study. Thanks for sharing this paper.

Has anyone else been able to find a commercial coin sorting machine that will sort coppers and zincs?

Very interesting reading. There are many inaccuracies in the report. The writer seems to be coming at the project cold, without a lot of experience in coin handling. I love how he slams the Ryedale, then says they are asking Andy to give them the information on how he makes it work for free, or suggests they need to examine the machine more closely so they can reverse engineer it. The hopper limitations on the Ryedale are easily overcome with auxilary hoppers or feed units such as the Brandt 777 which I have a couple of.

On the positive side, he does understand that development costs will greatly exceed his budgeted sell price and understands the speed limitations of optical sorting. A buddy of mine and I have been working on developing an optical sorting device for a while and the writer did correctly identify many of the requirements of a working system. Of course there is just a little bit of work involved in going from conceptualization to building an actual working machine. I did like his approach to compartmentalizing the different functions. That is what I do with my various machines.

If your percentages are low.. just sort more. If your percentages are high.. just sort more.

Now selling Copper pennies. 1.6x plus shipping. Limited amounts available.
