Ryedale arrived today. After breaking it trying to take off the shipping tape, I managed to reassemble it and get it running.
WHAT A SWEET MACHINE!!! Why did I ever bother handsorting pennies? I even sold my first and only handsorted box so have nothing to show but some silver for all that work! Ryedale Rocks!!!
Anyway - I now have three boxes of copper pennies available (mostly Canadian with a good sampling of US mixed in for "fx diversification"). A few Wheats and Kings also for sale in small batches. Sadly no Indians... yet.
I also have a large supply of steel and zinc Lucky Pennies on special for just $ 49.99 each (plus face value recovery and $10.00 shipping).
Send your orders quickly because stock is piling up here.

Naw.. I ain't selling, I'm just hoarding and telling my friends about it... but always open to offers. Especially for those lucky pennies. |

How did you break it?

Live free or die. Plain and simple.
"If you love wealth more than liberty, the tranquility of servitude better than the animating contest of freedom, depart from us in peace. We ask not your council or your arms. Crouch down and lick the hand that feeds you. May your chains rest lightly upon you and may posterity forget that you were our countrymen." - Samuel Adams |

I popped the red slide lock off and dropped the coin box in to the bottom of the machine. This disconnected the power cable. I had not figured out how to remove the discriminator yet, so had a heck of a time reconnecting it all up. Eventually took the Left side off and got it all snaped together and reconnected. I have a good idea how it all fits together and the dropping seems to not have hurt anything. I few jams so far.
1. Two caused by UK Pennies sneaking in (too big, but with the queen on them they blend pretty good with all the Canadian pennies). 2. Two cause by failing to replace the referance coin 3. Several related to the machine just breaking in the first few handfuls of coins.
I ran the same batch of mixed US/CDN coins of various metals through about 10 times (without making any adjustments) until the Ryedale started giving me really consistant results. It's been fantastic since then. Hard to tell exactly because I have them all loose right now, but it's given me a full large flat rate box full of steel and zinc, and about the same in mixed copper.
I'm running at the factory setting of all the way left on a 1979 US coin. Other then some 6 odd CDN 1984 pennies, all the Cu coins are heading to accept, and everything else is rejecting.
I'm hoping that I can reprocess the Copper to seperate the 98% Cdn from 95% US after adjusting the discriminator... Could not find my mini screwdriver last night.
Also want to try running the zinc and steel to seperate the US and Cdn zinc from the Canadian steel. I was thinking that would be an easy way to split out those US pennies, even if I need to handsort out a few CDN zinc.
On the factory setting with both a zinc accept and steel accept, it seperated ALL the CDN 2006-2008 (and a few of the older steel coins) from the copper free CDN/US coins mix). So it might be that the mint actually made a lot of zinc pennies after they officially switched to steel? Or maybe further tweaking is required to get the desired result. |
