Don't know if you all have heard of Ted Butler, but he writes some good commentary on silver. I have been reading it for a while now. He is very bullish on it.

If you are interested, here is a link to his latest commentary:

Let me know what you think if you read him.
I think he is one of the "must reads" in the silver bullion market, whether or not you agree with him.

I'll admit to being a silver bull, and a believer that everyone who can afford to should have some silver. However, Ted Butler, Jason Hommel and the crowd that says there is massive market manipulation in silver should be taken with a little salt. So if you can afford to buy a little silver and hold it without significant damage should the price fall for several years then my belief is you should do so. But if you are gambleing with rent money and hopeing the market manipulation (if there is one) will turn overnight, then think again.

Ditto on Longhorn. Butler's definitely off-track on the oil. I've played short sides before on stocks, and you don't get trapped in short positions, you get margin called - forced to close regardless. The only stop in that is that you'd have to have virtually unlimited funds to hold out, and anyone short at $70 or $80 or $90 is in the hole for multi-millions, possibly billions.

Butler's either the most prescient metals analyst in the world, or a complete charlatan. I can't tell which, but I'm hoping it's the former. I read everything he writes, and although he parrots much of the same information over and over, he may be on to something.

Yeah--he does get a bit repetitive...and yes, I too hope he is more prescient than charlatan.

I didnt read the entire article (at work so I really cant) but I have seen lots of talk about market manipulation with silver. So are they saying that the people manipulating the market are artificially keeping the price of silver lower than it should be?

My hobby: collecting real money 1 copper cent or nickel at a time.
