I found a 1976 cent with a liberty bell stamped on the front above Liberty and the outline of the USA stamped above the date. Any ideas on this?

Stamped. There is also a state outline an initials inside for all the states. A kennedy head facing lincoln, and one that makes lincoln look like he's smoking a pipe.

Now I LOVE blades and have made a few, wanna tell me the story on your steel there in the pic?

Various people have overstamped coins for many years for various reasons. Some have value, some not. They are kind of cool. Check out the mysterious "Vote the Land Free" stamp from the 1800's as a famous example.

The knife in the pic is a Kutmaster bayonet. I use it to dig up my metal detecting finds. It's a heavy piece of steel that has no problem digging out the coins. Pictured is a buffalo nickel, war nickel and modern cent that came from the same hole. The nickels were a couple of inches below the cent.

No kidding, the same hole! The blade looks nice, only bayonet I have is a m-9 I dislike. Always wanted to try metal detecting, maybe this winter or spring.

I just found one last night too. There must be many of them out there. I have not found any steel 1943 pennies or IHs but I find a bogus silver 1976 penny.

It ain't that rare actually:

The one I found has a stamping-error/finish-flaw on the non-obverse side just like this Ebay one.
