What do you usually try and buy?
At first I was buying dimes heavily as I figured if TSHTF they would be easily split up for small purchases. Then when I was pay 12X or whatever and seen that I could buy halves for the same even though the big boys were charging a premium I started getting those.
Now I've been trying top buy Morgans but they seem to be fairly expensive.
D

Buying CU cents!!!! Paying 1.2 unlimited amounts wanted. Can pick up if near Ohio area.

i buy whatever I can get my hands on at a good price - Maple Leafs, Canadian 80%, generic bars and rounds. But I am enjoying finding US Silver War Nickels in Canadian Nickel Rolls the most! Nothing like getting silver at 5 cents on the dollar.

I buy a mix as I am both a hoarder and a collector. I prefer the halves though as they seem to be in much better shape than some of the dimes (or quarters for that matter) I pick up. I try to keep it diversified though. My current mix is:

12.0% dimes (by face value)
32.5% quarters
32.0% halves
23.5% dollars

I wont turn away a good deal if I see one.

My hobby: collecting real money 1 copper cent or nickel at a time.

I get whatever I get the best deal on. Lately I've gotten a few Canadian dollars and a few Peace dollars for right at spot. I also just picked up a bunch of .925 rings at a pretty good deal.

Are you throwing that out?

Misteroman, Morgans are one of the most collected coins in the world and generally bring at least a $2 premium over spot in any condition. My local coin shop sells Morgan culls for the same price as silver rounds. So if you are looking for silver I would stick to halfs on down. If you can find Morgans at spot or below buy all you can.
