Just wanted to share my good fortune with the rest of you fellas. Was at work the other day with my co-workers and they were poking a bit of fun with my about my penny habit. Well the sales woman that we work with happened to be nearby and asked if I wanted to come get rid of a jug of pennies at her house that her sons filled up between 1982-1993. Wow, I said "when can I come and how do you want the cash". She replied, "I don't want the money just get rid of it!!!!" Here's what I pulled out of it. I'm a hand sorter so it took a bit.

4603 copper memorial
142 wheat pennies (3 steel and a 1914 in decent shape)
2576 zincers
1 silver war nickle
15.30 in dimes and nickles

64.8% copper

Man best part of it was, it was 100% free.

That is fantastic Scotty!

I think that is one of the best deals ever reported here.

If your percentages are low.. just sort more. If your percentages are high.. just sort more.

Now selling Copper pennies. 1.6x plus shipping. Limited amounts available.

A family friend that came over today, we are very close to him, he said he has about $200 face of wheat pennies, and Indian head cents he inherited from his father, and he would give them to me for free, he just needs to find them. Wow if he finds that i might be rich.

if it were me, the next time I saw her I would toss her the cash or at least a 50 and a 20 just to say thanks. You never know she might tell her friends you paid for it and maybe more people will come to you with simular offers.

I already tried to offer her money on several occasions but she refused every time. Believe she is pretty well off to worry about a bit of change.

"The most recent public opinion study by the Canadian Mint, released last fall, suggests 63 per cent of small retailers and 42 per cent of consumers favour getting rid of the penny." The ones that are not in favor of getting rid of the penny are worried about price increases. So maybe that is why people will give away thier pennies - total lack of respect for them!

“The reasonable man adapts himself to the world; the unreasonable one persists in trying to adapt the world to himself. Therefore all progress depends on the unreasonable man.” – George Bernard Shaw.
