I have a idea for me, but I'd like your input. I am going to college in DC in September. I've been going online, but I'm actually going there soon. There is a bank that has a branch near me and one near the school in DC. Should I use this bank as a dump bank? I can dump my zinc and deposit it into my account. This way I'll have copper in my pocket, and cash for school without redepositing. Good idea?

I don't see why not. I say go for it.

Deal

Live free or die.
Plain and simple.

"If you love wealth more than liberty, the tranquility of servitude better than the animating contest of freedom, depart from us in peace. We ask not your council or your arms. Crouch down and lick the hand that feeds you. May your chains rest lightly upon you and may posterity forget that you were our countrymen."

Sounds like a great way to dump your zincs and stay solvent at the same time. Just don't forget to keep a few rolls of pennies in the dorm so you can make emergency laundry or snack runs in the middle of the night! I couldn't even count the number of pennies (literally) that I scraped together for those things. Then there were the times I wrote a check for less than a dollar since it was all I had in my account at the time, but those probably really annoyed the bank.

So I opened that account, and today I brought two boxes of zinc in to deposit. You should have seen the look on the teller's face when I walked through the door. She looked amazed and said "Wow, you have a lot of pennies!". I just smiled and said "You have no idea".

HeHe I choose one of my regular credit unions as as dump bank. I walked in with 2X$100 in Nickels plus a whole bag of pretty new 2008 pennies. They called me the "coin man". Its a "free chequing" acct - I'm going to gradually build up my dumps until they scream! This is all from handsorting pre Ryedale... "You have no idea" is right!

kieblera5 maybe legacypac is causing the penny shortage. Wait for him to make a few more zinc dumps and the shortage will subside.

Wheeler Dealer, things are worse than you think if Legacypac is to blame, since he's in Canada and Kieblera5 is in the U.S.!
