I just thought I should remind everyone that you should realy look at your pennies close when sorting. There are quite a few years whith some mint errors that you should watch for. 1955, 1972, 1983, 1984, and 1995 have double die errors that could be found and some of these are worth in the hundreds of dollars. Also watch for other strange things. I have found 2 pennies with clip errors where there is a bite out of the edge from when the plachet was punched out. I have also found a blank plachet. Also you could find the very rare 1943 copper cent. Also there is a chance of finding some of the zincs that were minted without a complete copper covering these can bring a good price when verified.
A bank is a place where they lend you an umbrella in fair weather and ask for it back when it begins to rain. --- Robert Frost
This is why I actually enjoy sorting pennies by hand...not that I think a machine is a bad idea, and I am sure that will catch on once prices go up even more, but I prefer hand sorting. Plus it is just relaxing.
