What are you guys doing, spending the time to sort now or should I just hold the boxes for a later date. Also what is the exact weight for a zinc box of pennies, mine have all been around 15.8.

15.8 lbs is great!
My boxes of pure zinc weigh in at 14.2 lbs.
About 13.7 something for the zinc and ~1/2 for the cardboard box and wrappers.
I'm happy to get a 15.2 pound box, most of mine are 14.8 to 15.0. |

If you have unlimited investment capitol...
simply save it all and sort later (in a few years you will probably be going back to the same bank to hoard the zinc from the steel) |

| I'm just hoarding boxes. They usually weigh in at 15 pound but I had them go as high as 17.25. I really comes down to how much money you want to tie up vs. how much time you want to tie up........ and if you feel zinc cents will return to over 100% melt value again or not. |

For me it is SORT NOW! If I didn't have a lot of great machines I would be tempted to sort later. But by sorting now I can convert those zincs into more unsorted boxes which will add more copper to my hoard. Just sort em out and repeat the process.
Of course I have a "small hoard" of unsorted boxes also.. but I'm gonna get to em. |
If your percentages are low.. just sort more. If your percentages are high.. just sort more.
Now selling Copper pennies. 1.6x plus shipping. Limited amounts available. |

I searched through all but 6 boxes of my "reserves" (over 50 boxes last week). My plan was to knock them out today, but somehow I only managed to sort CWR's that came into a local bank today :). I was thinking about even doing drivebys today to pickup more, and here the teller calls 3 times and tells us a customer has brought in a load of pennies.
I'll help lighten your hoard by buying those 15.8 lb boxes from you at face. Then you dont have to bother taking them back to the bank |
