I have a collection of British pennies, half pennies and farthings.

I have around 75 extra pennies and about the same for the farthings and halfs added together.

Anyone know there copper weight? I have Krause's world coin book and it says they are just bronze.

Also anyone know how to roll them, 25 per roll?

Many thanks

Steiner

I weighed some of the British pennies I have and came up with the following weights-
Large British Penny 9.2 grams - 9.38 grams each

1/2 Penny 5.61 grams - 5.67 grams each

(I don't have any farthings to weigh)

Please note: the gram scale I have is off .001 grams and wear and tear on the coins effect their weight.

At least this should give you an idea of what some British copper coins weigh.

Remember that Bronze as well as Brass is a combination of Copper, Tin and Zinc. At least with Brass the composition is fairly stable, but not exact. Supposed to be 1% Tin and 30% Zinc with Copper making up the major portion. However, Bronze is Copper, Tin and a massive variety of other subtances in various proportions. Many of these are Aluminum, Manganese, Silicon, Phosporus, etc.
