I went to a new bank looking for ten rolls of nickels--asked for paper-wrapped. Back came some in nice paper wrappers. Too late, I noticed they were straight from the Mint (they even had the website mint.ca on it so you can order stainless steel coins direct from the source should you choose).

So as not to cause I disturbance, I accepted them. But as I was picking them up they (Freudian) slipped through my fingers, hit the floor, one of the wrappers split open and there were steel nickels everywhere (2007s). I thought for a moment about leaving them, and only picking up the whole rolls, but thought better of it, leaving the bank with pockets full of whole rolls and a double handful of nickels. Luckily there was a panhandler just up the street. He was holding out his hat but not really paying attention when he received a double handful of nickels. The unexpedted bounty pulled his hat from his fingers and once again there were nickels everywhere. There was a moment of stunned silence then a stream of curses came flying in my general direction. But only for a short while, as he set himself to gathering up the coins. He needs to ask himself whether he is in the coin-gathering business or not. Perhaps a sign "No nickels please". Fortunately I was out of earshot before he discovered they were all steel, so I could not hear the hysterical vituperation.

I managed to spend another roll at Tim Horton's.

To date all mickles have been 75% copper and 25% nickle. You should not have any steel nickles.

Remember Stainless steel is Nickle.

Awake, O kings of the earth! Come ye, O, come ye, with your gold and your silver, to the help of my people, to the house of the daughters of Zion, to the help of the people of the God of this Land even Jesus Christ.

If he doesn't have any steel nickels, you don't have any copper pennies if you get REAL technical.

I think henceforth all steel nickels.. whether they be from up north or later on when we start getting them in the southlands, should be referred to as "Mickles" in honor of mickeyman.

hmmm.. looking at these Canadian 5 cent pieces I picked up last night.. they look silver.. probably 80% silver.

If your percentages are low.. just sort more. If your percentages are high.. just sort more.

Having the steel nickel named after me is a little bit like having the Hindenberg named after you. It seems like an honor . . . until it blows up and burns.
