Anyone have any experience with Apmex or other sites that sell bullion on the internet? I want to get some silver with my "stimulus" money.

You must be logged in to see this link. you could try that site, but the best way to buy bullion closest to spot price is a trusted dealer near you, because you don't have to pay shipping, and you can bargain. |

Any way to buy local? Usually much cheaper, and the relationship you build can help in the long run.

| I cant help much with sites. But on ebay, I have bought some silver. I havent been screwed yet, so I think ebay it is for me, if im buying online. Otherwise I go to a coin dealer that has bullion $1/oz over spot, and they dont care even if they are silver eagles. If it is a silver round that is sold to them from an individual, it is spot +1. Or at a coinshow, where there is no tax! Tax ruins all my fun. Why should I pay tax to buy gold/silver eagles? If I went to spend it at a store, it would be seen as $1/$50 and your telling me that I have to pay tax! |

In Ohio? I always pay cash, they probably just pocket the money anyway. Because if so, I think the government owes me a little money back :D. |

| I ended up getting some bullion at the local coin store for about the same price as the website. There is a sales tax where I live which is unfortunate. |

| You must be logged in to see this link. has good prices, but you have to buy in large quantities. Survivalblog.com recommends coloradogold. I assume you paid the Texas sales tax judging by your name. There are better deals to be found than paying sales tax on bullion purchases. You must be logged in to see this link. has had good prices on bullion from time to time. |

| I've ordered through APMEX several times. The shipping can be high if paying with plastic; but quick shipping and everything is as described. I've heard good things about bulliondirect.com, but haven't given them a try. I try to purchase local with cash now, in case the "MAN" is keeping his eyes on my shopping. |

Hold the presses. MormonMetal made me go back and check my records. I DID buy some PM's online from Bullion Direct. A little gold and silver in late '06 early '07. I remember why I pretty much buy local. Decent prices, but the delivery fee and the handling fee are a little high. I'm a fan of cash payments as well....

| Cash and carry is best. There is no paper record, no worries about delayed delivery, and no worries about the seller taking your money and filing for bankruptcy. |

I have seen some sites out there:
You must be logged in to see this link. = charges a higher premium it seems over spot than others, but has no minimum that I saw
You must be logged in to see this link. = prices are pretty good, but there is a 5000 ounce minimum for a silver purchase
You must be logged in to see this link. = really good prices, but there is a 100 ounce minimum for silver
You must be logged in to see this link. = good prices, good reputation, but also a 100 ounce minimum
You must be logged in to see this link. = a newer site still under construction, competitive prices, no minimum listed, but no way to contact right now
You must be logged in to see this link. = prices are a little higher than some of the other sites, didnt see any minimum listed, currently out of ASE's, Canadian Maples, and 1 oz gold bars this morning. I thought they sold bags of junk 90% silver coins but didnt see that on their product listing
You must be logged in to see this link. = has alot of products listed, but didnt see any prices so I think you have to call to get the current price, 300 ounce minimum on silver |

Does any one know what states this applies to? Maybe the local dealer doesnt know this? The guy said I had to have a vendors license to avoid taxes and then there would be a paper trail and everyone would know where my stash is. |

| In kentucky, I always buy local except for certain rare coins. Sometimes I snatch a deal on ebay, but it has to be an excellent one! |

See if your state has something similar to this, a listing of all taxable and non-taxable merchandise:

Bullion / investment metal and collectible coins are non-taxable in PA. |

In one of the other threads someone pointed out that they are not a place to buy from--gave a link to attorney general complaints--they recommended to stay away.
A place that was recommended was Caspars.com
I think the thread was about buying ASE's if you want to check it out. |

have done business successfully with apmex, but if you are buying in quantity then Tuliving has much better prices. Tulving has great service too - kind of a mom and pop outfit in a good way. |

| I just order some silver from Justin at You must be logged in to see this link. This is my first time dealing with him and he sounded nice and was easy to get along with. I told him about an earlier post on the forum and he said he was slammed with orders. His email is justin@casperscoins.com and phone 574-272-5554. They sell silver at .25 over spot. He will have my check by 12:00 noon tomorrow and I'm sure I'll get the silver fast too. |
