I have 8 boxes of U.S. nickels on the shelf. Is it worth the effort to treasure hunt/sort or should I just leave them boxed.
(is there any "treasure" to find in a box of nickels)

I have a ton of them but I don't sort. Someday when I have the time I just may do so. Just looking through a couple of boxes I have found a Buffalo nickel, 100% Canadian nickels, and a silver war nickel. So yes, I would say there are treasures to be found in U.S. nickels if you are willing to hand sort. |

You may already be aware of this, but if you are looking for pre 1982 Canadian nickels amongst your American cupro-nickels, my tip would be to just run over a strong magnet, and if you feel anything, then you know there is pure nickel in that roll. |

I had the flu big time about 6 weeks ago. Then and only then I decided to crack open my stored stash of nickel boxes. The results were just about as lousy as I felt. Not a single War Nick and only a few non-culls from the 1940s. I'm back to storing them on the shelf again (and hoping that I don't get sick...and desperate). |
Here in Wisconsin, we have some of the highest property and gasoline taxes in the US. We're squeezed so much, I have to make my daughter wear penny boxes for shoes. At least she has an endless supply. |
