I've come to this conclusion during my first month on the forum. A penny for your thoughts?

He is one of the heavy hitters but there is another guy with cessna in his screen name that may have passed up HCBTT for most volume hoarded.

My hobby: collecting real money 1 copper cent or nickel at a time.

Yeah, c140cessna has a much bigger copper hoard than me. I keep diversifying a portion of my copper holdings into silver and gold.. converted 2 tons last year. He has a couple of advantages. He has 3 Ryedales to my 1, his copper percentages are much higher, and he gets his coin loose in bags rather than rolled. He won the race to 3 Tons last year.. I still have to finish making the trophy. I believe he has over 4 tons now. There is also another guy named Bill that has a bigger hoard than both of us combined.

I probably have the biggest coin machine hoard of anybody on the board though.. LOL. I got 2 more last week.. A Glory currency counter and a Brandt 777. The Brandt 777 is a large bin with a coin conveyor system.. just one of the ways I plan to "Pimp my Ryedale."

If your percentages are low.. just sort more. If your percentages are high.. just sort more.

Strangely, I feel a new nickname coming on.

Hoard "Fat Cat" Copper. Kinda catchy!

"Rich," the Old Man said dreamily, "is not baying after what you can't have. Rich is having the time to do what you want to do. Rich is a little whiskey to drink and some food to eat and a roof over your head and a fish pole and a boat and a gun and a dollar for a box of shells. Rich is not owing any money to anybody, and not spending what you haven't got." Robert Ruark

Hey anyone know if that Bill guy is a member here? I remember reading something that he was approaching 3 million pennies.

How do you enter a custom avatar? I couldn't find that option.

A penny sorted is a penny earned!

I couldn't either. If we can enter a custom avatar, I anticipate that Fat Copper Cat fka HCBTT will soon have the biggest, fattest cat that Google can find as an avatar.

Hello all.. reached 3 million 4 nights ago. Should be about a year and a few of the hoarders on this board will pass me no problem. My ryedale is getting tired... I beat the h*** out of it. It been dependable and one heck of a fighter. I am the official fix the jam master now! LOL.. I now have started on silver and have approx 1000 silver halves. None through sorting however. Its not as fun - you know ... the thrill of the hunt, but the price, I think, is still too cheap given the state of the economy. I have even sold another 300+ to family in case of a big crash. Its a possibility folks, so stock up on commodities, especially food. Oh no... my wife just called and told me gas in now 3.99 for the regular stuff in our town... Geez... this is NOT GOOD. It was 3.39 last week.

I keep them in plastic tubes 30 count. That way I have an accurate count whenever I add more.

20 count tubes... sorry for typo. Anyway, I retired fromoarding today. Funny thing is that one of my penny sorter guys brought in 4 Brink boxes for me to sort. I looked into the holes and noticed that they were all 2008. I said to him that that was ok because I am retired. Boy, the dissappoinment on his face was almost to much to take. Not only all junk, but no more business. He made thousands of the sorting business. I have to stick to my guns on this one.
