There will be somekind of 911 where Bush will become King George the first.
All banks, big and small will be broke........ the draft will be back.
There will be big trouble with water and food.
The "recession-depression" will go till 2015 where it will remain for a very long time.
Many people in the world will die, let it be by hunger, war, germs and so on..........at least 60%.
There will be a revolution in the US with more than two party involved.
Most people will try to get out of the cities but no one will want them which will make them very dangerous.
Small towns will become small forts.
Guards out at night protecting the crops and cattle (going on now).
Te government will set up big factories to produce bread for the people.
Governmnet will use foreign "mercenaries" to control the American people... no attachment to us.
Fema camps will be full.......more being build.
A lot more but this is only something to think about.

I remember back in 2000 the conservatives were saying that due to Y2K all the computers would crash, the nation would be paralized and Clinton would declare a national emergency and use emergency powers to stay in the oval office permanently.
Didn't exactly happen that way.
The US acts very bass ackwards when it comes to trying force citizens to do things they don't necessarily want to do, and with so many citizens in the US either armed ar able to get weapons (legally or otherwise) the possibility of controlling the masses would be remote. |

| Who is going to grow food to support all this nonsense? Good or bad, a government needs the support of its citizens, or some substitute. The only reason USSR lasted as long as it did was western banks kept sending money, and that was because the bankers needed a country to balance the USA. That wouldn't work for the USA. |

| Excellent point, Saul Mine. I believe that a return to localization is the only thing that will save certain regions of the country/world. Do I really need to eat some exotic fruit from a country I can barely find on a map? Cheap oil has produced a population anomaly that cannot be sustained indefinitely. |

Actually, I don't think that the US will fail and fold completely, but we're in for a tough time. Sadly, it's going to take tough times for the population to pull themselves away from American Idol and Deal or No Deal and actually begin to educate themself about world events, the economy and that sometime in the future they're going to be old and will need some money to exist. What a concept.
Might this become a 1929-style Depression before it gets better? Perhaps as I don't see than much progress is being made on any front. More and more people have resigned themself to having to stand in line with their hand out for the entitlements (be they food, medical care, energy assistance).
I don't have any problem being fully accountable for my own actions, but I resist being dragged into an economic black hole for the stupidity of others. I didn't force them to take on such a heavily-weighted debt load that they'll never be able to afford to repay. |
Here in Wisconsin, we have some of the highest property and gasoline taxes in the US. We're squeezed so much, I have to make my daughter wear penny boxes for shoes. At least she has an endless supply. |

Let oil rise sharply,take your hard earned money,reduce it to half the increase.

Let the money depreciate,give you a stimulus check,add it to the National debt you repay.
(rinse and repeat)
This is Government incrementalism at its best.
So, is it time for the next (rinse and repeat), who knows.

Wnen I was a young man I never thought I'd live to see the end of the Soviet Union. Now I fully expect I will outlive the United States. Of course, a good argument can be made that we haven't been a free country in decades - they've just been taking our rights away so slowly its hard for many to notice.
From time to time I ponder just how the United States will end? If McCain wins we will be merged with Mexico? If Obama wins we will slowly give away our sovereignty to the United Nations to fight the Straw Man of Global Warming? |
