A good friend of my Dad I just found out is working for Brinks as a delivery driver. Is there anyway that I can take advantage of this? I figure the one way this could help me is with getting the new pennies and quarters if he knew what banks they were going to. Also is there anyway They would do a delivery to my house? My business? I realize there is a fee involved and does anyone know what that fee could be?If I got a "misteroman" load $25K and they charged me 50-100 to do it I think it would be worth it.I could care less if they seen the truck there. Any other ideas in how I may be able to legally take advantage of this? Derek

What if you swapped bags with him? You get all the vault bags that the banks give him and you trade him for bags full of zincs? Then you are getting all the CWR's unwrapped and ready to dump in your ryedale. |

I think it's wroth looking into. I would just ask him and find out the scoop. That would be pretty cool if you could pull it off. |

If you get larger loads less often it will be much cheaper. You can negotiate with their office for weekly, monthly or 1 time deliveries. |

I spoke with with a brinks supervisor last week. He said something in the ballpark of $100 to deliver to my home. I don't know how much extra they would charge to pick up/count the zinc? |

Talk to them again and ask. If they do it on the same trip it might actually be reasonable. |

What if those of us that live in the same area split the fee and share the load? |

P.S. I live in WNY and my wife actually thought it would be fun to have the Brinks pull up to our house. |

Ask if Brinks is sorting and if so, how much do they want for copper cents? |

Mark.. for a doubleTopeka load they have to use the big truck. I think they have to charge extra for that. I don't think you can have them all sorted in 2 days either. The Brinks truck always shows up earlier than when you are ready for them.. LOL. |

Hoard.. On a the serious side.. If I can pull it off I was thinking about starting with $5000. At 20%, $500 a week, it would take me most of a year to have all copper.
If the Loomis thing doesn't pan out, where else could I order that much at once?

I just talked to my local Loomis office. They said they only deal with business....will not do business from a home. I was really wanted to work this out, so I would have all the hastle with the banks. Maybe someone will have better luck that I did! |

Green-do you have any friends that own a retail business with a shop? Maybe you could try having them deliver there. |

Okay, here is the latest. I talked to Loomis for a good half hour this afternoon. They cannot deliver to residential areas due to security issues. They will deliver to a business, as long as it is secure, with easy access. You have to set up an account through a bank, which in turn will set up delivery/pickup. You have to set up a business account, which Loomis will bill. There is a delivery charge, plus a sorting, and counting/verification charge. I asked how much for just counting/verification. They told me that they charge $10.00 per $50.00 bag. It seems as though this is just way to expensive to go this route.

20%?!! That's outrageous! You know the bank doesn't pay that! It sounds they strongly discourage small businesses from using their services.
I have yet to talk to a real person at Loomis. I left 2 messages today and sent an email yesterday. I got a reply that they would have the local office contact me but they haven't yet. I'm in CO so it will be interesting to see if the results/rules/pricing is the same here. |

Some banks do pay that. The bigger banks have BIG contracts so that they only pay a delivery charge. In exchange brinks picks up/drops off every week. |

I find it hard to believe that any bank pays 20% for coin service. They would want to pass that along to anyone bring in loose change to trade in for cash. Let alone anyone dumping large amounts of zinc on a regular basis. |

Everything is negotiable. Banks negotiate with Brinks/Loomis/Dunbar etc to do their deliveries. Some banks have more to negotiate with and get better deals. It is the same with businesses.
I am currently negotiating with one of my banks to provide a significant amount of fresh pennies to me on a weekly basis in exchange for me moving more of my personal banking business to their bank. |

I would like to get some of that counting verification business. I would be happy to do it for $5 a bag and they can keep the other $5. Let's see.. at 4,000 coins per minute.. Heck, I would just give up the sorting and buy my copper presorted from the other Ryedale owners. |
