Men Arrested for Stealing Silver from Kodak

(Oswego, N.Y./Rochester, N.Y.) -- Four men face felony charges after a three-week investigation involving three police departments and Eastman Kodak’s Worldwide Corporate Security Specialists.

James Pauldine, 39; William C. Hill, 30; and Ronald S. DeGroff, 45, all of Oswego, were arrested and charged with criminal possession of stolen property, a Class C felony.

Rochester police have also charged Alonzo Brown, 37, with burglary and grand larceny. Brown is accused of actually stealing the silver. Rochester police say he was a contract employee at Eastman Kodak in Rochester.

Oswego police said three of the men allegedly possessed 251 pounds of silver reportedly stolen from Kodak. The estimated total value of the stolen silver is approximately $70,761.

As part of the investigation, Oswego police confiscated approximately 202 pounds of the stolen silver.

According to investigators, the suspects would receive the stolen silver and, in some cases, melt it down to be resold to companies in Pennsylvania and Virginia.

The Oswego men were arraigned by Oswego City Court Judge Metcalf and released on their own recognizance. They were ordered to return to court on April 29.

The investigation involved police departments from Oswego, Rochester, and Wilkes-Barre, Pa.

Silver is one of the main materials used in making film, and it is also used to make photo paper. The silver in this case is "recycled silver," re-captured from already processed film.
