Old extension cords. Where I work, we THROW AWAY hundreds of feet of 14AWGx3 & 16AWGx3 cords per month. Recently I got permission to start taking them home instead of putting them in the dumpster. The local supplier only pays about $0.55/lb right now, so I am trying to find a better deal and/or wait for commodities to go up.

Power lines. They're all over the place, and they're just sitting there ;)
(seriously, don't try to steal power lines. They have, like, power in them) |

I should add that I did not explain what I wanted the cords for. My boss just kind of looked at me quizically and said "sure."

ever since i started hoarding pennies and nickels, i found myself paying more attentions to the coins inside public fountains, and wonder to myself, where do they go eventually? :) |

I usually collect them out on a Sunday night.

My wife and I were at Niagara Falls a couple weeks back and I notice at the brink of the Bridal falls people had dropped coins at its edge. When I pointed out the nickels my wife got a tight grip on me.

AL, i am on your wife's side this time; but if nickel continue to rise, it might be worth the risk
i work in a gelato store, as cashier and everthing else; the other day, this guy comes in with 25 dollars worth of dimes(5 rolls), and demand to purchase a scoop of gelato which is worth 3 dollars, i said to him i don't need so much dimes, and decline to take that as a payment(in fact, it's ok to refuse a payment of nickel* coins exceeding 5 dollars)
had it been for the 5 cents he brought in, i would accept 100 dollars worth with no unwillingness
*in canada, beside the 5 cent pieces, 10 cents and quarters were once minted with 100% nickel, up to 1999; and from 1999, dimes and quarters with a "p" mint mark are steel coated with a layer of copper and than a layer of nickel; i calculated that in order for these 100% nickel dimes and quarters to be true/real money, nickel has to be about CDN $23 per pound |
