So I have every penny from 1932 to 2007 - except the 1970-S Small Date. (Ok, I don't have a '55 Double Die either, but I don't count double dies). I think I finally found one, but I'm not 100% sure it's a small date. I've been looking at it for about 30 minutes and comparing it to large dates but they're starting to all look the same to me. What do you guys think? Is this a small date?

Looks like a large date to me since the 7 drops below the 0 (they are even across the top on the small date). |
My hobby: collecting real money 1 copper cent or nickel at a time.

Yep, looks like a LG Date for the above reason.
A 7x-10x Loupe is very handy for this type of stuff, and coin inspection in general if you don't already own one. |

Loophole29, I don't know anything about the differences. I would suggest hauling it to your local coin shop and telling the guy that you have an offer and wanted his opinion. If he offers you a significant amount over normal price you may be onto something. Congratulations if it is a small date. |

LD.. my boss gets Small date fever on these all the time. There are several ways to tell.. usually the easiest is to look for a weak/mushy LIBERTY. Good picture! |

I was confused about that for some time, too. When I found one with the level numbers and confirmed with a local dealer that I had a small date example, I keep that in a 2 X 2 flip to check against others where there might be a question. Certainly not as obvious as the large and small dates of the 1960 cents. |
Here in Wisconsin, we have some of the highest property and gasoline taxes in the US. We're squeezed so much, I have to make my daughter wear penny boxes for shoes. At least she has an endless supply. |
