I am just passing this on for you to consider if you bought gold, silver, platinum or palladium jewelry with diamonds in it from January 1994 to March 2006.
You must be logged in to see this link.
"If you bought a piece of diamond jewelry -- or jewelry with a diamond in it -- between Jan. 1, 1994, and March 31, 2006, you may be eligible for a refund as part of a recent settlement of a class-action lawsuit alleging that De Beers, the big South African diamond company, had cornered the market for diamonds for decades, keeping prices artificially high."
Of course there is fine print to read carefully before you get your refund-
"For purchases under $10,000, no receipt is required to make the initial claim, though you may need to produce one later. You'll be asked to confirm on penalty of perjury that your claim is accurate."
I don't know if anyone on this forum could use this information, though if you or anyone you know can get a refund for a daimond purchase, put in a claim for it. Why not? Any refund you can get will be found money, apply it to your copper/nickel/silver/gold fund.
As long as there is some proof that you bought a diamond from 3/1994-1/2006 put in a claim. (Maybe the jeweler who sold the diamond jewelry has a copy of the sales reciept in their files.)

Thanks for this find. |

Another footnote came to mind: If you or someone you know bought diamond jewelry with a credit card, the credit card company might still have the proof of purchase on their records. I don't know how long the CC companies keep their records, but any chance of finding proof of purchase is better than none. |
