Do you find that setting goals help you stay on track and help motivate you? I am thinking of setting a goal to do $75 a week. So sorting a little over $10 dollars a day. My goal would be to beat this whenever I can but do atleast $75 a week.
So 7500 cents searched per week @ my average find percentage of 21% would be aprox. 3,571 coppers a week. So if i started this goal next week that would leave about 46 week left in the year ill take two more weeks off for vacation so well say 44 weeks. So it would be over 150,000 coppers if everything worked out okay(percentages the same and no problem dumping zincs). This seems like a good goal for me as a hand sorter. Though after doing the math that does seem like a crap load of coppers lol.
What do you guys and gals think? Should I just do less or just do what I can in a weeks time? I think the goal is sound but I think Ill see how it goes for a few weeks then see how many to sort each week.
Welcome to the forum klava. I think it is good to set goals. Also kind of fun to set personal records and then see if you can beat them the next week. That is a lofty goal for hand sorting. You are right about that being quite a load of copper.. that is a half ton of copper! Where are you going to store these 30 bags of copper cents? Do you have a significant other that is going to complain about there being pennies everywhere? At that sort rate you should definately get a Ryedale. Save all your 82's and just run them through the machine when you get it. As far as weekly amounts.. you should do what you feel comfortable with. Keep doing it as long as it is fun. If it starts to seem like work then take a break from it. Some weeks I do a lot.. some weeks I don't do so many.. depends on how busy I am with other things. The 2 tricky parts are obtaining the pennies and disposing of the zincs. If you spend some time reading the various threads here you will get some good ideas on both. Also, this is a friendly group of copper fiends.. so if you have any questions, just ask, a fellow member may have an answer. Your copper percentages are about the same as mine. What part of the country are you from?
If your percentages are low.. just sort more. If your percentages are high.. just sort more.
Now selling Copper pennies. 1.6x plus shipping. Limited amounts available.
I have plenty of room for storage and I am singe(thank God lol) Yes that is quite a bit of copper. I think ill give it a month before I set my goal just so I can set an attainable goal. if anything i figure this is the best way to save money. I mean it takes work but how many cds or mutual funds pay out 100%? lol
I have three friends who each work high up in different banks. All of them tell me depositing any amount of coins will not be a problem.
I am in Southwestern Virginia. In a small town of 2000 but one thing is for sure there are as many banks as fast food stores around here lol probably more.
Also I might add I have gotten my neighbor and best friend interested in sorting too so that should help to keep me motivated lol
