What does a copper US penny weigh compared to a zinc US penny? I have pretty bad vision and would like a easier/faster (free) way to sort through coins.
I'm new to the copper world, Thanks! -John

I found the answer myself,
Copper pennies weigh 3.11 grams, whereas the zinc pennies weigh only 2.5 grams.
Thanks. |

Do you have a plan as how to weight pennies and sort them out quickly? |

I have serious vision problems too. I use a lighted stand magnifier as well as a loupe (I have three different powers) to see the dates and to look for the occasional error that jumps out at me. It takes me about an hour to go through 200 coins--four rolls of pennies or dimes or five rolls of nickels.
Enjoy your coin searches. |
