Poll Question:
We have a mixed group of members, but for the most part all of us understand that it would be wise to keep a comfortable proportion of our net worth invested in metals. Where is the greatest percentage of your wealth concentrated, not counting real estate?

I don't have a whole lot of money to invest. In fact, "college books and supplies" would have come a close second to my actual vote: silver.
I just love the stuff. Can't get enough of it. I have a bit of palladium and a good amount of copper (increasing rapidly now), but silver will always be my go-to guy. I've always been wary of the stock market; I imagine that even as an adult I'll stay away from it. |

Real Estate, paper, PM's
Dakota, what do you mean? Did you liquidate IRA's 401K etc., or was it after tax investments.
I'm not trying to be nosey, just curious. |

Stocks right now. But if the market goes down again and gas hits $4, that might change if I have a full tank. |

I voted for silver but I would actually say "all of the above" as I'm a big believer of diversification. Although I understand the possibility of near-term deflation I'm not comfortable cashing out of the market. If I cash out I'm not getting out of the market but merely investing in another asset, the U.S. dollar. It is very possible that the dollar might gain value against PMs and other hard assets in the short term. However, I believe that the assets with intrinsic value will when out in the end and I don't want to time the market to take advantage of temporary dollar strength only to be stuck in cash when the dollar begins to fall apart. Having all the that I believe a 10% cash position is an acceptable risk. |

About 70-85% is in silver, and the rest is cash. |

After my first quick answer, I took a more careful look. Gold is still my #1 asset, but the detailed breakdown is:
~40% gold ~25% silver ~15% cash ~15% real estate ~5% equities |

Ahh I have more Halliburton stock and funds in my 401k to outweigh anything else, but most of the above would have been a good option. |

Silver, Copper, Roth, 401k, and MRE's.
Actually, I guess I'm currently operating at a negative net worth when you factor in things like mortgage and car notes, so the real answer to the question is "what money?" |

I just took a huge portion (80%) of my stocks off the table. Most of my money is in cash, and I have some guns as well. |

401k, as real estate is off the list. Then silver, but the dropoff in % to silver is a big one. |

Yeah, whatever happened to the house search? I now that the one you wanted, at first, fell through b/c the seller wouldn't make any concessions. How goes it now? |

Mine is mostly in Potash stocks and cash in the bank with a too small amount of silver and gold. I dont know if cash in the bank should count as having cash. For that matter my stocks are virtual or digital as well. |
