I picked up a Susan B Anthony dollar yesterday. It is a 1979 with Philadephia marking. The strange thing about it, is that it has a nice silver finish. I thought Susie B were copper cores with a cupro-nickel outer cladding. Another strange thing, it weighs 7 grams on my scale. I checked another site and they say Susie B are 8.1 grams.
Were Susie B made in 40% silver like Ikes or did I just get a regular cupro-nickel coin with a silver plate ?
Plated I would assume. I dont recall any mint errors with SBA and silver planchets. Have seen some counterfit SBA's though.
