Is anybody familiar with this indicator? If the market does dive, won't spot gold prices follow in the short term?

| Haha, spot and physical prices are very different. I remember when gold went to 800 and couldn't buy an oz below 1k. Same with silver. |

The first panacea for a mismanaged nation is inflation of the currency; second is war. Both bring a temporary (and false) prosperity; both bring a permanent ruin. But both are the refuge of political and economic opportunities. |

I'm not familiar with the indicator but to answer your question, yes IMHO, gold (silver even more so) prices would dive at least for the short term. |

With the outlook for the US economy beginning to sour, there are growing fears that we could be on the cusp of a sharp decline in US share markets. These worries have been heightened by last Thursday’s appearance of the “Hindenburg Omen”.
This Omen – named after the ill-fated German airship that became engulfed in a spectacular blaze as it tried to land in New Jersey in 1937 – is a technical indicator. For the omen to be activated, the market must fit a number of criteria, including that 2.5 per cent of stocks traded on the New York Stock Exchange must be hitting new 52-week highs, while the same proportion hit 52-week lows. The Omen is particularly feared because it predicts market crashes, rather than simply market declines.
The Wall Street Journal contacted Jim Miekka, a blind mathematician responsible for inventing the Omen, who confirmed that his indicator was predicting a market meltdown in September. |

This absolutely socks. Right when we go into the traditionally strongest period of the year... our PM's might get pulled down in tandem with the general stock market again??? Jeeez, if I buy this, then it means I need to back out of some winning trades while I still have a profit, during months when they could run much higher if it weren't for the general market malaise and precipitate fears. Do you really think the plunge protection team would let this happen? |
Hoard now and hold on!

| Whenever the market does double dip, load up on stocks. They will be cheaper. If my capital wasn't tied up behind my back, I would buy stocks. DOW 6000! |

| Things are going to get nasty very quickly the way I see it. The past few weeks I have exited a majority of my stock holdings. |
