Has anyone ever found a CPU chip inside a TV? I recently scrapped out a Mitsubishi TV that had a projector inside, and while removing everything from the metal boxes I found a chip. Anyone else find anything like this? Is this considered a CPU?

What type of "chip" did you find? You have to be more specific. Shape, size, label and how it was mounted (soldered on, socket, etc.).
Most modern TVs have one or more integrated circuits (a.k.a. "microchips") on their boards, but do not have an actual socket type CPU like a desktop computer. |

This is the actual DLP - Digital Light Processing - unit from a DLP television. Also called a DLP chip or DLP CPU.
The TV you took apart was almost certainly worth several times scrap value for parts, even if the screen was damaged. Hopefully you kept the lamps if they were good.
These chips have a structure similar to Sun flat-bottom ceramic chips, which are one of the worst for scrap value. Fortunately because they don't have pins they're less likely to be damaged. You could probably sell it "as is" for $20 or so. |

A fine choice of venue, by the way.
Hopefully your buyer will be pleased.
Note that when listing a part, buyers tend to search by brand and part number so it's good to have those in the title. |
