I used to have a lot more nickels but cashed a lot of them in to buy more pennies. |

I made a big push with buying nickels early on. The fact that they didn't require sorting was one thing that appealed to me. I'm buying pennies now but I know that if I started on nickels again I would continue until I had at least another $1,000 worth. |

Did you even do a quick sort for silver or buffalo nickels? You're right about the sorting though. I hand sorted 3 boxes of nickels and found no silver or buffaloes, so it's probably just as well to leave them in the sealed box. |
My hobby: collecting real money 1 copper cent or nickel at a time.

I woudn't call it a serious sort but I have gone through some rolls early on when I got them outside of boxes. I did fine some war nickels and some 100% Canadian. In fact, I was getting a lot of 100% for a while. Maybe I'm just saving my sorting for my old age. Both pennies and nickels that is. I really don't feel as much a need to sort now as I do to buy and hoard. |

Look at it this way Jack.. you could double the size of your hoard without a signicant capital outlay. |
