I see a very wide range of prices for this prestige proof set. How is one to determine the fair price?
The US Mint initially sold the 1986 Prestige Set for $48.50 which would be $96.31 in 2010 money.
I see them on eBay around $10, but other sites are selling them for $60 or more.
Can someone explain how this collector's set sells for less than it cost after 24 years?

some set sell for a lot less with in one year and others go up in price in one year. I`am not sure why but it may have to do with how many sets are made. some people do not like certain sets, like the 1986.
I have one but I will put it up for sale here soon.
I don`t expect to get much for it, an auction I guess.

| Suggesting you don't pay more than $25 for one. These sets are just not popular. The set is often cheaper than just the silver dollar contained in it. |
