I can buy 200 Canadian 50 cent coin for $5 a piece. They are 80% silver (Im only going to buy 1966 or earlier) and have 9.296g of silver per coin. That comes to $16.72 Can per ounce of silver. This would be my first purchase and I do not know if I should be able to find some for less. Like my name implies, I do not like to spend more when I could pay less.
Coin Inflation has them at $5.43 US. I like you hate to buy too high, so I would check Ebay and see what others say, Here is the link to coin inflation I good place to start when looking for silver or copper value of most coins.
In my experience 10 x face seems to be the going rate for Canadian 80% silver coins. You could get them for less but you'd have work at it. And since you are in Canada you'd (imo) have an easier time selling them than if you were in the states. I'd say that this is a pretty good deal.
