I could not find this on any other posts, but what are the date ranges for Canadian Nickels, looking to sort similar to what I do for Canadian pennies George V 20-36 George VI 37-52m Eliz 53-54 Eliz 55-90. Anybody can help

| Are you asking about composition changes, design changes or both? I thought I remembered a thread with a lot of this information but the search doesn't seem to be working at the moment. The composition table at the "Nickel (Canadian coin)" wikipedia article is fairly complete if that's what you're looking for. CuNi production after 2000 is not detailed though, I'm not sure if there were years between 00 and 06 where only steel nickels were produced. |

| looking for major design changes, similar to the pennies, which I sort based on George V, then George VI etc, I know the dates for content. It gives me another way to keep my two girls interested to help me sort. |

CuNi for the years 2000, 2001, and 2006 all without the "P" under the queen. There probibly wont be too many 2006 without the P because the government is allready taking them away.

| The Monarchs head changed the same years for all coins. Design changes happened on the reverse the same years too. Not like in the US where they change one coin at a time. |

2003 had 2 different portraits of the Queen on them.2006 used both the 'P' plating mark & the new mintmark to indicate that they were struck at Winnipeg.

| Also during the war years there were some compositional changes. There are rare tombac nickels, which are sort of bronze coloured, and then in 44 and 45 as well as 51-53 they were chrome-plated steel. Also there is a commemorative 1951 nickel celebrating the discovery of nickel. |

The tombac 5 Cents is very common.
We even see those turn up over here in New Zealand.

Tombacs might have high mintage numbers, but according coins guides from the early 1960's at least 90% of all tombacs were retired from circulation then and melted.
I have found every for nickels since 1922, except 1925, 1926 1942 tomabc and 1943 tombac. |

| The 42 tombac did have a fairly low mintage of 3.4M, roughly a third of that year's nickel production and second only to the 48 for lowest nickel mintage under George VI. The 43 "V" tombac is much more common, at 24+ million it had the highest mintage of any George VI nickel by far. I have not found either in circulation though, only at the coin shop. |

Thanks for the offer, but I do have tombacs in my collection.
I should have phrased my post better. I meant to say, from bank roll searching I have found every nickel since 1922, except 1942/43 tomabcs and 1925/26 nickels.
