Title says it all what do you guys think is a good price to buy US 90% silver coins at? lets assume a silver price of $18 an ounce is the spot price.
Do you guys go by silver content directly or more of a numberX face?

Depends on the quality, but if If I'm buying from a craigslist listing I'll call a coin store in the area and see what they are offering and offer that. Sometimes a few dollars rounded down because I'm driving to them and ease of transaction. For instance a few coins adding up to $72.5 in silver I'd offer $70. $75 if the coins were in really good shape. I like not having to deal with shipping so I usually keep an eye on cragslist for good deals. |

Currently I am paying face at the bank. Seems like a fair deal for me. :) |

Try You must be logged in to see this link. for the exact amount of silver in coins at any silver price using their silver calculator.
Most times 90% will have a buy price on or under silver spot so check auction sites and bullion dealers like AMPEX that offer their buying price and use it to form your price.
Hope this helps! |

roughly .5X to 1.0X below spot.
tend toward the higher end for halves or older coins like mercs, walkers.
better price if the quantity is larger. |
Buying: Peace/Morgan G+ at $15.00 copper cents at 1.3X wheat pennies at 3X

I try to get it below spot if I can. But I buy such small amounts that I don't worry to much if it's a bit over. |
Are you throwing that out? |

I'm buying very good quality silver coins and bullion. I'm only buying a few coins at a time, so paying a little extra is worth it to me, if the coin is in great shape. For example, today I bought a 1922 Peace Dollar for $18, because it was in really nice shape. It looks like new..... BU ASE's I'm paying between $21.00 and 23.00. I bought a couple of Chinese Panda's and paid about $30 each for them, because of their condition, and they are hard to find around here in Ohio. I'm hoping to keep my silver a few years and hope it will go up in value. I'don't think it will go down in value. |

I buy in small amounts at a time. To me, paying $1.50 for a dime or $3-3.25 for a quarter is not unreasonable. I've been getting smoking deals at estate auctions lately though. I scored 71 Merc's two weeks ago for $35 - or .54 cents each - I'll gladly pay 5x face! |

I buy at 10x face no matter what. There are always sellers and I am always willing to buy. I pay a little more for Morgans, usually $12-$13. |

I usually hunt around eBay for deals. Saw $40 worth of halves today for 11.5x face after using rebates.
If you don't think $1.50 for a dime is a bad deal keep an eye on this seller:

He usually has dimes for $1.35 and lately he has had war nickels for $1.00. All with free shipping. Can only buy one every 8 days though, he's been doing it for a while now, trying to get his feedback up is my guess. |

I would love to pay less than face, but like others above I buy small. Soooo, it's harder to get great deals at the amount of $ I put aside per week. I take what I can get when I can get it. |
