I was able to attend the Summer FUN Coin Show in Orlando on Friday and Saturday.
As usual, I had a great time walking around and looking at everything. Lots of cool things to see, so many things I wish I could have afforded to purchase. Saw my first fractional silver bullion and I think it was two different dealers I saw selling it. Attended another great educational lecture on Friday afternoon.
Saturday I spent most of the time at the show with another Realcent member cruising the many aisles again. Just prior to this though I had an unexpected thrill. I had heard recently that a '92 "Close AM" penny error had been found via coin roll searching in Central Florida. Had that confirmed on Friday by a gentleman I know that attends the same coin club with the person finding this error coin. Then, on Saturday morning I was thrilled to be introduced to the person that found this error penny, was able to see and hold the slabbed penny, and then had a nice chat with this personable young man who has been searching through rolls of coins for about the same amount of time that I have been searching coin rolls--just about two years. This is probably about a $3,000.00 error penny for any of you out there that wonder if it is worth looking for error coins. I was extremely shocked and pleased when upon being introduced to one another he recognized my name for having found a 1999 "Wide AM" that was written up on the CONECA website.
So, for any of you that haven't had the pleasure of attending a good sized coin show, check one out if one comes near you. It is well worth going.
Enjoy your coin searches, everyone.

I don't understand why the Cherrypickers Guide doesn't list either of these varieties. Now I'm wondering what other valuable varieties it's missing (I sort nickels).
Those are some awesome finds. I may have to get back into sorting Lincolns, and learn all the rare varieties. |

Searched: $2230 Nickels; Liberty: 1; Buffalo: 4; War: 20; 2009: 2; 2010D: 8 |

I'm Sorry!!! I have to apologize that I can not remember his name. You know how my memory is...still really bad and names seem to be a really severe problem for me.
If you post on there, send him a PM and ask if he by any chance attended the Summer FUN Show in Orlando on Saturday and met a lady that had found a 1999 Wide AM penny in her change from Disney. Maybe HIS memory is better than mine! I can't remember his name but I DO remember the coin graded AU55. Go figure.......some things stick with me and other things are gone with the wind.
If you do, please let me know. Thanks. |
