Since my fiancee and I are hopefully about ready to sign on a house, I'm open to any pointers or resources in converting the place from on-the-grid to solar power--and it'd be really great if we generated enough electricity from solar power so that we could even sell some back to the power company. Are any of you off the grid with solar? Any tips on how to convert a house to solar? Are there any safety concerns (power surges, etc.) with solar power? How much does it cost to convert an average-size house to solar, buy the solar panels, etc.?
Its probably tens of thousands but there are almost certainly some sweet tax credits and/or write-offs.
