The plan immediately ran into problems when Controller John Chiang said he wouldn't be able to implement it: He said it's too complicated for his office's antiquated computer system to handle.
Chiang, who openly opposes the plan to reduce state workers' wages, claims his computers cannot handle the scheme and so he is not obliged to comply. His system was last updated in 1970 and it would take months to bring it up to speed, the Los Angeles Times said.
"This is not a simple software problem," Chiang told the Times. "Reducing pay and then restoring it in a timely manner once the budget is enacted cannot be done without gross violations of law unless and until the state completes its overhaul of the state payroll system and payroll laws are changed."
His system was last updated in 1970!?! So are they using punchcards to enter data? Fire him and his entire department and hire ADP to process payroll. Probably save tens of millions right there, and, as a bonus, remove the "carbon footprint" of those antiquated old mainframes!

yeah, I can't believe that a system was updated last in 1970. REALLY? what do they do when a computer goes down? go to the museum of junk yard (or ebay) to find parts!???
Wow, that would hurt if I was the one recieving the pay cut, but if you can't pay people, well, then you CAN"T pay. Figure out how to lower costs and reduce waste!
Just curious what Arnold makes and if he has imposed a pay cut on himself as well. Course, he is good for it, he could go pay free and it wouldn't break his bank. |

back in 2006, right? the stock market has gone down since then, if his blind trust made poor decisions, he may have far less than $100 mil.
Or... his investments may have made him some chunky change in the meantime! ?? !
eh, $175,000 to decline isn't a big deal for him. I wonder if he gets to write off the declination as a loss!?? |

the working people of Californa need that money, thay can`t live on minimum wages.
I would like to see him digging a ditch, for minimum wage.
that friek of nature is just like Obama.
make all the rich people move out of California, so his Muslim buddies can have the richest part of the country.
I guess the mexicans will move into the mansions there.
