So as far as I can find the center of this coin is .925 silver (1/6th of a oz) but its not on the stickied chart on the top of the page. Are my finding wrong?

You've got it right. The center is Sterling (.925 FINE), .1666ASW.  |

These were minted 1992-1995. While no ring Mexico 10 Nuevos Peso coins were minted in 1996, brass center with a copper-nickel ring 10 Nuevos Peso coins were minted in 1997. |

This is funny.
As a result of this thread my son and I rifled through our coin piles and came up with 4 post 95 10 pesos bi-metals.
Good info, I'll keep my eye open for the junk bin booty. |

| I live near a border town that has 'casas de cambio' ..... what would be your thoughts on trying to buy all their 10pesos at a time, sorting them and then returning what is left a different casa? You'd lose the exchange rates both ways, but if you found 3 or 4 with silver then it might be worth it!!! Any thoughts? Kinda a variation of roll searching('cept you'd be getting these from the casa de cambio and they wouldn't be in rolls) |

| doing a rough calc from what I recall of the current exchange rates, could mean a loss of $4.5 with an original $100 investment IF NO silver was found. |

I'd try it once and see what happens. If no silver, $4.50 is a small price to pay in order to scratch that itch. If you don't do it, you will wonder about all the silver you're missing out on. Here's two questions that come to mind for me though:
1. Do you think any/all of the casas would have very many of the ten peso coins to offer you? I liken it to the scenario of going into a bank and asking if they have any halves, and they say I think Cindy over there might have one or two, but that's all we have... then going to the next bank and Tulisa has half a roll... next bank none... next bank has two rolls that some old guy just brought in...
2. Do you foresee any of the casas having a problem with you bringing in a large amount of coins to return? Like some of the horror stories we read on this site about people being cut off or given the runaround or being charged a fee, etc...
Just thinking. I would wanna do it. But I'd really wanna ask all the questions up front to avoid as many problems as possible! |

I did cash in some Pesos a while back. And they almost DIDN't take my coin Pesos becasue they had so many stacks already. So finding enought 10 pesos shouldn't be the problem.
Reselling them later could be.
And then, what if THEY sort out the silver ones themselves!?
Yeah, I'll probably try it, but not for a week or two when I have the $100 to spare. |

wow, didn't go as planned.
Stopped at two 'houses'.
First sold me 1/3 of their 10 pesos : they just had 30.
other sold me 6 diez pesos coins.
They had almost no coins unlike last time!
No silver. the oldest was 1997. |

Probably 1992-95 is the date range.I think 1996 was the first year of the base metal ones,even though they are bimetallic.
