Went to the bank today. As I'm standing in the window, I'm scoping out her change tray. In the quarter section I see what at first glance looks like a 90%er. Then I realize the reeded edge just doesn't look quite right. I ask her if I can see it. She pulls it, looks at it, and says, "It's foreign, do you want it?" Of course I do. She gives it to me and says, ready for this, "We just throw them away." Being the concerned citizen I am, I give her a card and offer to take all these "junk?" coins off their hands. Never know what I might end up with. They might be onto to the "keeper" US coins, but maybe not so much the foreign ones.
The coin is a 2004 10 pence piece. Has a cool lion on the back. And of course her majesty on the front....
