Just wondering if you guys have also found a disturbing amout of hair in your penny rolls? I'd assume it's from getting stuck between the pennies when rolling.

| hey there KIWIMAN. welcome to the forum. i just assumed it was because of where they are being "stored" along their journey. they go from pockets to jars to counting machines to rolls... and i think a lot of the stuff that is with them in the pocket makes it to the roll. i have found a lot of pocket lint, for instance. and hair. but i don't know that i would say i've found a disturbing amount. i guess that is relative... |

| Yes, customer rolls I have opened in the past were loaded with hair. Not really sure what part of the body it came off but made me think twice about handeling them. Almost makes me think that they were added purposely. |

I have found hair in coin rolls before. The long straight ones don't bother me as much as the pubic hairs. I had to check the pile of coins with a magnifier to make sure there weren't crabs amongst the coins and course curly hairs... I don't gross out easily, but that one really disturbed me...
On a plus note, at least with pennies. Cu has anti-microbial properties almost on par with Ag. That grunge and hairs should be mostly sterile.

Just part of the trade- deal with it or try something else.Nickels among other coins do not seem to have this hazard as much. Bag from coin machines in my area seems to have less too.
For the goop I would assume ash trays and other where coins gather in cars are near sodas or fast food drinks leak on coins to make them sticky. There is alot of areas where this can occur. It has happened to me personally many times. |

Hi Kiwiman - Welcome! And yes the hairs that are in some of the customer rolled pennies is very disgusting. I have to take my glasses off & lean forward & look closely to see the dates. There are all kinds of short & curly hairs which I hope are from hairy men & womens arms, right. |
