So I bought 2 boxes of half dollars today. My girlfriend told me to wait until tomorrow so she could help me open them. I knew I'd go stir crazy with 2 boxes of coins just sitting there, so I bought a box of pennies to sort in the meantime. I'm glad I did, as it was by far the best penny box I've searched in terms of finding a high quantity of wheaties...here are my new PR's:
1. Found 136 Wheat in total 2. 29 of 50 Rolls had at least one Wheat 3. 17 rolls had at least 5 wheat 4. Had 10 Wheat in a roll x2 5. 7 rolls had a wheat showing on the end
Most of them were from the 40's and 50's...the only pre-40's I found were: 1937, 1936, 1928, 1921, 1919

Wow great box. That is 3x the amount of wheats in my best box, and I thought 40 something was a great find. |

That's the thing...this is pretty much the only bank I use for pennies, and the most I've ever found prior to tonight was like 25-35 in one box.
Guess this was just a lucky night. |

Nice! I have had big scores on nickels and halves but not yet for pennies...send some of that luck over this way! I usually get about 17-22 a box. |

Well I do know that my two best boxes as far was wheats go were back to back purchased the same day; one had upper 30's in wheats and one had 40 some wheats. Normally I only get around 11 a box.

It's nice that your girlfriend want to sort coins with you and it will be a while before you beat this score. |

I'm more impressed that you have a girlfriend that wants to sort pennies "WITH YOU" rather than the amount of wheats you found. You better hang on to her. My wife and kids think I'm nuts and want nothing to do with any of my coin collecting or copper mining. My wife can't wait for me to drop dead so she can take it all to the bank and dump it at face value. |
COPPER - the "poormans" precious metal!!!
SELLING - $100.00 face copper shipped to you for $189.00 machine rolled or bagged - PM me if your interested. |

@Aristobolus : It was a bank rolled N.F. String box
@Lemon Thrower: Yes
@NDFarmer : I've only been coin sorting for about a month now...so she is still testing the waters out I think. She's much less interested in sorting the pennies, but likes to look for silver in the halves (typical)...and I do plan on hanging on to her...probably for good sometime soon :) |

Congratulations UDEric! You da man. I am more in NDFarmer's boat than your's. My wife just thinks I am having a mid-life crisis and the coin thing is better than betting all of the money on the ponies at the track, buying an expensive sportscar I don't need and can't afford, or going on the prowl. This way in her eyes I am nuts but she knows just what I am doing. Ha! |
